My name is Gianni Rotondo and I’m a Job Coach/Job Developer for an employment focused program at George Brown College called the Construction Craft Worker Foundations program, where we provide our students with basic, entry level training and skills for positions as general labourers in the construction industry.
If you’re an employer currently hiring for a position, consider hosting a student for a work placement before hiring someone. The benefits are that the college covers WSIB, so there is no cost to the employer, and I can help you find the right candidate to meet the employment needs and expectations of your organization. Essentially, you will have the ability to determine whether or not an individual will be of benefit to you and your company by assessing their performance before committing to hiring them.
The students are equipped with all of their PPE and basic tools (i.e., hammer, tape measure and utility knife), and they receive certification training in the following areas:
• Working at Heights
• Asbestos Awareness
• Traffic Control Person Awareness
• Powder Actuated Tools
• Record of Propane (400,000 BtuH)
• Skid Steer Operator
• Forklift Safe Operator (Class 4,5 ILT)
• Elevated Work Platforms (Scissor Lifts & Zoom Booms)
• Worker Health and Safety Awareness
• First Aid and CPR with AED training
• WHMIS
If you are interested in hosting a student for their work placement, please do not hesitate to contact me because I would love to discuss this opportunity with you in further detail so that I can identify the most qualified candidate(s) for you based on your requirements and expectations.
Looking forward to hearing from you and thank you very much for your time.
